The practice is highly controversial. Some argue that no method of execution can be truly humane, while others believe that lethal injections strike a balance between the need for justice and the desire to minimize suffering.

The process typically involves a series of three drugs administered in a specific sequence to induce unconsciousness, paralysis, and ultimately stop the heart.

The three-drug protocol commonly used in lethal injections includes:

An anesthetic (such as sodium thiopental or midazolam) to induce unconsciousness.

A paralytic agent (such as pancuronium bromide) to paralyze the muscles, including the diaphragm, which stops respiration.

A drug like potassium chloride to stop the heart.

It’s more human

It’s a very subjective opinion. Theoretically the procedure before the execution is less humiliating than in the other cases and it doesn’t physically destroy humans body as the electric chair or other ways of executions.

The body after electrocution looks horrible. The skin is burned, red and eyes are often popped. In case of lethal injection they just put the inmate on the board, strap him and implement the chemicals by a needle into the body. Then they just wait till the inmate will die.

It’s not that painful

It’s definitely not true. You can find a lot of reports from lethal injection executions and it’s proved that inmates screamed because they suffered. Some resources describe it like “burning from inside”. The chemicals in the body they put in make incredible pain.

There are no other ways how to execute people more humanly

Theoretically there could be. Something like euthanasia would be a good way how to execute people. It will be interesting how they will improve this because in my opinion lethal injection is not a very good way to die.
