The final pictures of Abby Williams, taken by Liberty German and their potential killer, 2017

On February 13 2017, two girls from Indiana USA, Abby Williams (13) and Liberty German (14), went for a walk at the Monon High Bridge Trail, part of the Delphi Historic Trails around 14:00. The next day, their bodies were found near the bridge.

The double murder became a media obsession, and police went on the hunt for a killer who had coldly murdered two young girls. The method of murder has not been disclosed, but it is believed that the girls were shot, as evidence would show the girls possibly in their last moments alive.

Soon after their bodies were discovered, police released the images seen above from German's phone. The picture on the top shows Williams crossing the bridge. I added the two red circles for clarity as the picture contains details necessary to the case.

The gritty and poor quality of the picture makes it hard to make out details. The first circle to the left apparently shows a man walking towards the girls in the background. The second circle on the right shows what looks like a person crouching behind a bush. This detail had been confirmed to be untrue. The killer is likely in the circle to the left, and the images at the bottom of the photos above push this theory.

The man shown below was initially a prime suspect to the police. German actually recorded some audio of the man, in which the words "down the hill" are heard. This phrase is thought to be the man telling the girls to go down the hill. The term "gun" is also believed to be heard in the audio file.

After the killings took place, an eyewitness reported that they saw a man in a blue coat near the scene of the crime, who had blood and mud on his clothes. Another person claimed that the car that belonged to the man described in the eyewitness statement just mentioned, was parked "oddly" as if the license plate was trying to be hidden.

As of 2023, a suspect, Richard Allen, is in police custody.
